Stop illegal trade in native monkeys in Indonesia via bird markets

Doelstelling

I want to draw international attention for the actual illegal trade in native monkeys in Indonesia via so-called Bird-Markets. Lots of tourists are visiting these markets, not being aware that they take part in the miserable way the monkeys are being treated by some local communities.
I will attend an International photo competition which will lead to a great exposure once I can make it to the final rounds.
This competition is organized by the internationally well-known Magnum Press Agency. More details can be find on

Persoonlijke boodschap

When I can win this photo competition in september 2009, I will use the price-money for presentation-material, which I will donate to international organizations like the WSPA to support them.
WSPA can use this material for educational and public purposes for creating awareness in the local Indonesian communities about the issue of illegal trade in monkeys. In my opinion it can contribute to the public discussion how to get rid of the miserable way of treating the monkeys and how they can look for alternative ways of earning money. I would like to receive a statement (in English) of the WSPA which I can use as supportive text for this exhibition, in which is stated how important it is to vote for my photographs!

You can see and judge my photographs in the attached presentation. All photographs have been taken on the island of Java in Indonsia, last summer 2008, on one of the local bird-markets.
